We have been in contact with the three childcare centres on campus.

Playhouse Parent & Child Care Centre would possibly accept casual bookings depending on vacancy. They suggested to contact them again in early August to see whether they’ll have any spaces available in September. Address: Union Rd, St Lucia QLD 4067, Phone: (07) 3377 2231.

Margaret Cribb Childcare Centre and The Munro Centre don’t accept casual bookings.

There are also a number of babysitting services available in Brisbane, offering private babysitters/nannies which would come to your accommodation., such as Juggle Street, We Need a Nanny or Sittr. However, we don’t have any specific recommendations.

School Holiday Programs

Fortunately the conference is being held during school holidays here in Queensland, so there are lots of great options for school aged children.

UQ Sports offers the UQ Sports Kids Club on campus at The University of Queensland, St Lucia. This is a multi-activity program for kids aged 5–14 that combines sports and game-based play with a range of interactive lifestyle and educational sessions. See https://uqsport.com.au/content/uq-sport-kids-club

YMCA at Bowen Hills offers kids vacation care, Active Kids Holiday Program, at their indoor gym from prep age (i.e. 4-5). See http://www.ymcafitness.com/active-kids-holiday-program.html

There are other places that do fun and interesting school holiday programs, but note most of these are from prep age. See https://www.brisbanekids.com.au/guide/school-holiday-programs/

For example, Speak Up Speech & Drama Studio in Red Hill offers drama, musical theatre and craft. See http://speakupstudio.com.au/school-holiday-workshops-for-kids-in-brisbane/short-and-sweet-workshops
